My Story

I was born the third kid to a military man and his long-suffering, game-for-anything wife, which meant childhood came with frequent address changes and a very flexible definition of “normal.” We lived in some truly odd places—Korea and Alaska top the list—and did a lot of interesting things because my parents rarely said no to a new challenge or a fresh adventure.

I have a sister and a brother, Teresa and James, who are my rocks and the people who keep me tethered to reality. My parents were married for 62 years, which is equal parts impressive and mildly intimidating, until my mom passed away in May of 2025. That left my dad to figure out life without his partner, and in true Dad fashion, he handled it by staying very busy and traveling—Los Angeles, Oklahoma, Mexico—apparently determined to wear out a perfectly good suitcase.

I was born in Texas and spent most of my life there. In 2023, I moved to Illinois to escape the heat and promptly discovered that I do not, in fact, enjoy the cold. So I split the difference and landed in Oklahoma in 2024. It turns out that compromise is a beautiful thing, and I’m genuinely enjoying the state.

I enjoy immersive, comfort-forward hobbies like playing The Sims 4, Lord of the Rings Online, Hogwarts Legacy, and Disney Dreamlight, reading Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb, building systems that make life easier, organizing my world (digitally and physically), and generally turning chaos into something functional and familiar.

I am unapologetically obsessed with my furbabies: Soosung (aka Sunny), Calypso (aka Psycho), and Mouse (aka… Mouse). Soosung’s name means the planet Mercury in Korean, which I chose because his mother’s name is Nova—meaning star. I call him Sunny because he’s midnight black but radiates pure sunshine, which feels like a small daily miracle.

Pixie passed away in March of 2019 at just two years old from Feline Infectious Peritonitis, and that loss absolutely wrecked me. It took a long time before my heart was even remotely ready again. I wasn’t ready yet when November 2019 rolled around, but that’s when Psycho found me anyway. She is WILD—capital letters fully earned—and an endless source of joy and entertainment.

Mouse quite literally fell into my lap after I saw a Facebook post saying he needed a home. He has since added the perfect extra layer of chaos to my already chaotic cat household. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love my furbabies, even when they’re plotting something.
